Ready for some great basketball action, Boston-area hoops fans? The 2005 Celtics Schedule kicks off this November, and already anticipation is high as the Celtics hope to repeat as division champions. On Wednesday, November 2, the Celtics travel to New York for a 7:30pm game against the Knicks. Two days later, Boston heads to Detroit to lock horns with the Pistons, a game that also starts at 7:30pm Eastern. The team's home opener will be on Saturday, November 5, as Boston welcomes the Charlotte Bobcats to TD Banknorth Garden. From their, the Celtics play three straight road games, against Memphis, San Antonio and Houston, before returning home to play a second game against the Pistons. Only two of the Celtics first nine games are home games. In fact, only four of the team's fourteen November games will be played at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Key Games on the 2005 Celtics Schedule

Boston makes up for it in December, however, as five of the first six games on the 2005 Celtics schedule that month are home games -- against New York, Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio and Dallas. Mark that Friday, December 9 game against the defending champion Spurs on your calendars, Boston fans, as that will be one of the key games on the Celtics schedule this season. Sunday, February 26, should also be a favorite among Celtic fans, as that date marks the season's first of two meetings between Boston and the Los Angeles Lakers. That game will occur in Los Angeles, while Boston will host the Lakers on Monday, March 20. Finally, there are three April games that could well decide who will win the Atlantic Division -- April 7 at Philadelphia, April 14 at home against the Nets and April 16 in New Jersey. Those two clubs challenged Boston for the division title last year and will likely be the top contenders to the throne in 2005.
