Leading the way will be forward/guard Paul Pierce, who was ranked 5th in the NBA in triple-doubles (2), 8th in steals (133), 13th in points (1,769) and 17th in points per game (21.6). Pierce has a history of excellence since being drafted by Boston in 1998. During the 2000-01 season, he became the first Celtic player to score more than 2,000 points since the legendary Larry Bird -- a feat he repeated during each of the next two seasons. In 37 career playoff games, Pierce averages 24.5 points per game. He is joined by forward Ricky Davis, who was third on the team in scoring with 1,309 total points and a 16.0 points per game average. If Boston manages to repeat as Atlantic Division champions in 2005-06, it will likely be largely due to the efforts of Pierce and Davis.
